The BMW 5 SERIES (1996-03) is a premium executive car, sold mainly as a saloon and also as an estate. In the UK used-car market it sits above family cars, offering a refined, comfortable feel for longer journeys while remaining practical for regular use. mycarcheck.com has recorded 11,170 checks covering 4,648 VINs, showing interest in this older BMW. Its average private-sale valuation is £3,400, with average recorded mileage of 139,000 and about five previous keepers. It may suit experienced buyers seeking a roomy commuter or family car, provided they budget for age-related upkeep. Known for its composed ride, quality cabin and engaging feel behind the wheel, the 5 Series makes long trips relaxing without losing a sense of enjoyment. Against the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and Audi A6, it offers a premium alternative with a more driver-focused reputation. Check condition and service history carefully: these cars are now older, and upkeep matters.
