The BMW 1 SERIES (2011-15) is a premium compact hatchback, offering an upmarket alternative to mainstream family cars. In the UK it competes with the Audi A3, Volkswagen Golf and Mercedes-Benz A-Class. mycarcheck.com has recorded 106,133 checks covering 39,139 distinct VINs, a substantial sample of used examples. It suits commuting, town use and motorway trips, with a five-door body that works for couples and small families. Buyers get a smart cabin and enjoyable handling, while its rear-wheel-drive layout is unusual in this class and gives the BMW 1 SERIES a distinctive, balanced feel. It is best for drivers seeking premium appeal without giving up everyday practicality. Checks show an average private-sale valuation of £5,600 and average recorded mileage of 91,000 miles. Typical annual mileage is 8,000, while cars have had around four previous keepers on average. As with any used premium hatchback, compare service history, condition and running costs before choosing one.
