outstanding finance
Millions of UK vehicles have outstanding finance, mycarcheck found more than 7,100 cases in the comprehensive checks we ran in the last 90 days!
Types of vehicle debt are HP, PCP, PCH, lease or bill of sale. The finance company typically own these vehicles, not the driver, they could repossess it. Therefore it's vital to check the finance status before buying.

stolen
You certainly don't want to get involved with a stolen vehicle, that's a nightmare! If stopped by the police you could be left massively out of pocket when they seize the vehicle.
mycarcheck found over 1,600 vehicles with a stolen record in their history in the last 90 days.

write-off or scrapped
It's essential to establish if a car has been involved in a serious crash. If it has, for safety you'll need to know if any damage was repairable. Also previous write-offs generally cost a lot less than a non-accident damaged car.
During the last 90 days we found that more than 14,900 vehicles we ran checks against had write-off records that a buyer may not have known about.

import or export
During the last 90 days we found that more than 9,700 vehicles we ran checks against had import/export records that a buyer may not have known about.
advisory checks
Also included are essential pre-purchase checks such as details of previous ownership, plate and colour changes, engine number, and the VIN confirmation.

Make sure to check that the most recent recorded mileage roughly matches the vehicle's odometer before buying the vehicle.
We highlight in red when a vehicle mileage has decreased, check to see if this is suspicious. Sometimes this is just the result of rounding.
DVLA records are particularly prone to rounding / errors as they are provided by the general public.
