MyCarCheck reveals the facts about X Factor’s Mini prize
MyCarCheck.com - the UK’s No.1 consumer vehicle data provider - has saved millions of people from making an expensive used car mistake. The company has great news for the lucky winner of this week’s X Factor competition: Sharon Osborne’s Mini Cooper is ‘clean’ and worth over £10,000.
ITV’s singing show celebrated its 10th birthday this weekend with prizes including a Mini Cooper S 1.6 previously owned by judge Sharon Osborne.
Host Dermot O'Leary announced “Your chance to own Sharon Osbourne’s four-wheel dream machine” – a midnight black car with leather interior – in a complete the lyrics competition: “Twist and…” a) Scream b) Shout c) Yell.
Former professional guitarist and fan of the show Roger Powell, Divisional Head at CDL Vehicle Information Services (which owns MyCarCheck.com), commented: “While watching The X Factor on Saturday I was surprised to see the car’s number plate displayed, because they usually blank them out.
“I popped it into the MyCarCheck app on my phone and am pleased to confirm it would have a forecourt price of well over £10k. It has been with the same owner since new and is what we in the motor trade call ‘clean’. This doesn’t mean it’s had a good hoover to take care of the dog hair! It means it has never been stolen, written off or clocked, there is no money owing on it and it has never been involved in an insurance claim.
“The car was registered in December 2010, so as it is three years old it will be due in for its first MOT next month. It has carried a personal number plate and will cost £140 a year to tax. If it has a sunroof then I advise the new owner to get that checked, as it’s a common fault on this type of vehicle.
“Overall, the Mini is a very popular car and the Cooper S is a particularly desirable model, so it’s certainly a prize worth winning. I might even enter the competition myself!”
Over the last couple of years, MyCarCheck.com, MyMotorCycleCheck.com and MyTextCheck delivered around 4.5m consumer checks including those via AutoExpress and WhatCar?.
