The Chinese economy has shrunk like your favourite tee shirt in your Mum’s washing machine. More shops are closing on the high street, but for some reason the LCV retail market is moving.
Traders and dealers are reporting that they have some demand for vans and pickups and the phone is ringing. In turn this is bringing a little respite to the marketplace and a positive mood. This will continue, but stock is going to be short now until March. Anything Ready to Retail or very unusual is ultra-desirable and will therefore demand a premium. As a result we have increased values by 1.5% across most of this month’s guide.
Ford Fiesta and Vauxhall Corsa have all but dried up for now so there are hardly any small vans available. Volkswagen Caddy in either Sport line or 140PS guise are selling with ease. Even 69 PS models are finding buyers. Ford Transit Connect values have again increased with some nice examples - even in orange - finding homes at the first time of asking. Buyers must be cautious though, as some of the orange examples have been painted and not wrapped. Citroen Berlingo and its stable mate Peugeot Partner are around in volume but values are steady this month.
Bigger vans such as Vauxhall Vivaro are around in mass, but the trade and retail customers love them. Some are coming into the market now with twin side loading doors and they are achieving Ready to Retail money, even some yellow ones if priced right are finding buyers. We are still seeing a lot of Volkswagen Transporters around, but again buyers are lined up for them. Anything with a little bit of extra specification, i.e. Alloys or Air Con adds a good amount onto the value. Vauxhall Movano LWB vans are easily found. Most are very tidy and have buyers fighting over them. Any chassis cab variants are selling well.
4x4 pickups are around in numbers. High specification Navara and L200s are selling well. Newer Amarok and Ranger are achieving very strong prices. No matter how many pickups there are in a sale at the moment, they all seem to sell.
