Motor Industry News
The business now trading as HPI Limited (HPI) was formed way back in the past just before the second World War in 1938 for providing information regarding outstanding finance to the UK motor trade. All vehicle finance enquiries were carried out on paper so if a motor dealer wanted to know if your Austin Seven or Churchill tank was subject to outstanding finance they would instruct HPI to carry out an enquiry to obtain the answer. So it is hardly surprising that over the next 56 years HPI became established within the Motor Industry for checking a vehicle. There was no competition and no other way existed to check if there was outstanding finance on a vehicle.
In 2005 mytextcheck entered the vehicle check market. Using the internet and the mytextcheck mobile phone service, the website mycarcheck.com quickly became the leading supplier to the general public of vehicle data checks. The brand mycarcheck sold its first vehicle check to the consumer in 2005 and by 2009 had sold over 1.2 Million checks to individual customers.
The introduction of mycarcheck has probably been responsible for bringing down the UK car check price from over £40.00 each to as little as £3.95 for a basic mycarcheck vehicle check.
Mycarcheck.com and mytextcheck are brands of CDL Vehicle Information Service. CDL have a licence with the DVLA, Police, Association of British Insurers and are also the leading supplier of vehicle data particularly to the Insurance industry. Mycarcheck also supply vehicle data to Go-Compare, BGL Group, BDML, Compare the Market, Swiftcover.com, Uswitch, Tesco Bank, Hastings Direct, RIAS, Nationwide Autocentres. CDL VIS are members of the Consumer Credit Trade Association.
