Daily Telegraph report on vehicle cloning to escape congestion charge
The Daily Telegraph have reported on the 17th November that there has been a sharp rise in vehicle identity theft in 2007, according to new police statistics. In London alone, 9,777 vehicle registration plates have been cloned, over 1,000 more than last year and almost double the 2005 figure. "In London, one of the the biggest scams is using false number plates to beat the traffic cameras that enforce the congestion charge," said a spokesman for vehicle-data checking company mycarcheck.com
